Automated Transfer Order

Hello All

We are using NAV DYNAMICS 2016 v.9 at work. Is it possible for NAV to generate automated transfer lists? We have two locations A and B. A is a warehouse and B is a shop where orders get picked. Every shelf in location B has a minimum shelf quantity. At the moment we are using an excel spreadsheet which is using formulas to show us which items need "topping up". It pretty much works like this: show items that are in Location B, that are below minimum shelf quantity + what is needed for orders. The problem with this is that I have to export a whole catalogue of items to excel spreadsheet and then feed that information into our custom spreadsheet. Once this is done I have to scroll through all the items to see what needs to be topped up. I do automate it with putting some columns in certain order but it still takes quite some time to come up with a list which is then copied into a transfer order. I know that it is possible to add minimum shelf quantity box to every item we have on NAV but I don't see a way of NAV creating an automated list once the item reaches a level below minimum shelf qty. I tried to play around with filters but there is no way to put "show me all items in location B that are below minimum shelf qty" because filters need decimal numbers. How would you go about it? Is there some other NAV functions I can use? I had a brief look into BINs but at the moment it seems a bit complicated - however if that is the way could someone point me to where I can learn more about those?

Thank you in advance

Bax

    Hi,

NAV does have a Replenishment function.

It's well documentated in blogs & on youtube.

You could start reading here: www.archerpoint.com/.../what-you-need-know-about-nav-item-card-replenishment-fast-tab

    and here: docs.microsoft.com/.../production-about-planning-functionality

    let me know any questions.

    Hello Hannes

Thank you for your answer. I'm afraid we are talking about two different things here. I don't want to automate the purchase of products - we are already using the replenishment function to order stock from our suppliers, we generate stock issues history (requisiton worksheet) and go from there. So the first link doesn't really help here. However while reading the second link I think our problem is that we are using the replenishment system tab and planning tab to order stock from our suppliers. I may be wrong here as I am not in any way trained in NAV - I inherited it from my predecessor and just try and make it work :) more efficient. I know that I should not change anything in requisition worksheet as this is set up for my manager to be able to read stock sales history and order stock accordingly. There are pros and cons to do it manually but this is the nature of our business and it is better done by a human and not by a machine.

What I am looking for is a way to automate stock transfers between warehouse and the shop (two NAV locations). Once the stock in the shop goes beneath a certain level I want NAV to show me those items and then I would like to generate transfer order from the list NAV will produce.

    Thanks

    Hi,

In the Replenishment-tab (on the Item-card or Stock Keeping Unit), you can select "Transfer" as Replenishment System (select also "Transfer-from Code").

Going this route, you would continue to use the Requisition Worksheet but instead of creating a purchase from your vendor, you would create a Transfer Order.

I've implemented a similar solution for one of my clients to have always a minimum stock-level for orders from their website.

That looks promising. Thank you Hannes.

    Hey Hannes,

that sounds like a good tip but this option is not available in my instance. I can only see Purchase, Assembly or Production. Is there something I need to enable for this to work?
