Import Job Not Working

Hello, I am trying to complete my very first import job. I am working on importing and exporting Goals. I found a video on youtube that would help me, but all my attempts are failing because of the "Fiscal Period". I exported a custom excel file from CRM, the file does have a heading for "Fiscal Period" but all entries for "Fiscal Period" are empty. When I import a new file with only 1 Goal in it, I get all green check marks while doing my mapping. There is an option to map Fiscal Period to Fiscal Period, or to map it to Fiscal Period Option Set. When I test leaving the Fiscal Period field blank, and then submit it, the failure error says "For a goal of fiscal period type, the fiscal period attribute must be set." I get that same error when I map it to Fiscal Period, and when I choose to ignore it as well. When I put in a value for Fiscal Period (September for example) and then map it to Fiscal Period Option Set, and choose September, submit, and I get a Failure error saying "The fiscal settings of your organization have changed since the time this goal was changed. You might want to realign the dates to the new fiscal setting." Again, I get all green check marks when doing my mapping. I asked one of our salesman what we use for a fiscal period when entering new goals and she said "we use a custom setting" I do not know if this has anything to do with it, but it is all the information we have so far.

Does anybody know why this is happening?

    Hello CaptainCRM

Have you set your Fiscal Year Settings yet?

If not then go to Admin -->Business Management

    Look for Fiscal Year Settings.

Set your Setting that you want

Next go back to Goals and then set what Fiscal Period you want you also need to set up Metric Goals as well.

    Hope this helps

Damon, Thank you so much for your help! You certainly have me pointed in the right direction. My Fiscal Period was set to "Quarter 1" and "Quarter 1" is a value in the Fiscal Period Option Set, so I chose that while doing my mapping. This time I got an error that I never got before.. it said "You can not write on rollup fields if override is not set to true in your create/update request." Do you recommend me setting the override to true? Or am I still missing something? I have not done anything in Goal Metrics yet.. I would not even know where to start there..

Goal Metrics are required to create Goals in CRM. Define your Goal Metrics and then try importing the Goals. I would not recommend overriding the Actuals unless you have a numbers that are not available in CRM for it to calculate.

Import goals with roll-up query and goal metrics. Once the import is done, select all the goals from the list view and 'Recalculate' to let CRM do the Actuals calculation.

Thank you for all your help, I had to do a few things to get this working correctly but I finally got it. I had to define my goal metrics, plus I was entering dummy test values into fields such as Actuals and In Progress, which is why I was getting the errors. I did not know goals would be calculated and values would be entered into those fields after calculation.
