Not able to open screen layout designer and workflow editor

I am trying to open the screen layout designer (worker> retail tab) in D365. A file "Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.RetailDesignerHost" is downloaded to my machine but whe same is opened, I get the error "Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor". Please let me know how to fix this. The same problem exists for workflow editor too.

Please note: I have Microsoft .Net connector framework 4.5.1 installed in my machine.

    Hi Sreehari,

Have you done these steps? To install Retail POS Layout Designer plug-in ?

    1. In Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Retail, use the menu in the upper left to navigate to Retailand commerce > Channel setup > POS setup > POS > Screen layouts.
    2. Select any layout that has an application type of Modern POS for Windows or Cloud POS, and then click Layout designer.
    3. On the notification bar that appears at the bottom of the Internet Explorer window, click Open to install the one-click designer. (The notification bar might appear in a different place in other browsers.)
    4. In the Application Run - Security Warning message box that appears, click Run to install the Retail designer host. A progress indicator shows the progress of the installation.

    I Hope this Helps!

    Thanks Rodolfo.

I had tried this before. When I do this, a file "Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.RetailDesignerHost" is downloaded to my machine and when I open the file, an error "Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor" is given.

    Regards,

    Sreehari.

    1. Open IE and clear the cache/password history from Tools -> Internet options -> Delete…
    a. Make sure “Preserve Favorites website data” is unchecked
    b. Make sure “Passwords” is checked

    2. Close the IE

    3. Clear the ClickOnce cache for any previously loaded versions of the app with the following command from elevated command prompt:

    rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache

    4. Reopen IE. Ensure AX user credentials for main client are the same as the credentials prompted for the designer.

Please mark this post as Verified if my suggestion resolves the issue to help other members.

Which browser are you using? I got the same error in Chrome, but in IE it works fine. Good luck.
