Start a dialog process from JavaScript's window.open(url) in the OnSave method

I have created a dialog process in CRM 2013 and I am trying to open it from the OnSave method of the Opportunity form using window.open(url) and I get the Record Is Unavailable error page with a message saying:

"The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it."

I can open the dialog in the browser outside the CRM but I get the error when called from OnSave method of the form and I have sys admin role.

Use

openStdDlg(url, '', width, height, false);

Are you using window.open or openStdDlg.

Thank you for the response it was helpful but did not solve the issue. I apologize for late reply some how I didn't see the responses earlier.

I tried all different combinations of opening the dialog but still got the error. as I was researching the error further I found out that the problem was due to accessing data from CRM in the dialog process. Any data from CRM should be retrieved using a CRM query in a dialog step into variables. I haven't tried that yet but that's the next step but when I removed all the fields from the dialog it opened with no errors.
