management reporter reports stuck in the que and won't run

I usually can get reports to work in Management Reporter, but had the same issue last year.  We currently have 2 years open and whenever I try to run a report in Management Reporter, the report will not run and stays in the que as processing.  When I try to cancel the report, cancelling just hangs out there.

Has anyone encountered this and if so, is there an easy solution?

thanks,

Laura

Are you using the Datamart or the Legacy Provider. The first thing I would try is to restart the MR Process Service.

Here's a nice blog post on how to do it. community.dynamics.com/.../reports-stuck-on-queued-cancellation-in-management-reporter-2012

    Laura,

I don't know if there's a way to force a report to Cancel... but I can tell you that there's nothing special that you have to do to clear out the reports that are flagged as "Canceling".

The Repository table contains a field called "StatusType". These are the codes and their meanings:

    Status Type Description
    0 Complete
    1 Failed
    2 Canceled
    10 Queued
    20 Processing
    30 Canceling
    40 Queueing

The familiar messages you see in the Report Queue Status window. To change any reports from Canceling to Canceled, just run this query in the ManagementReporter database (get your dba to do it for you if you don't have the rights):

    update Repository set StatusType = 2 where StatusType = 30;

I can't tell you what's going on in MR that prevents the reports from fully canceling... but at least you can straighten out the bookkeeping.

Do you have a Datamart for your GP data? It might be a good time to rebuild it.

are you able to found any solutions for this issue?

    thanks.

Hi Sergio,  I am having the same issue with ManagementReporter reports stuck with a status of cancelling.  When you say "Worked for me....Thank you!"  did you use the restart the "MR Process Service" or did you need to run the "update Repository set StatusType = 2 where StatusType = 30;"?  I restarted the  "MR Process Service" and it still showed the status of "Cancelling".  I did not run the "update Repository set StatusType = 2 where StatusType = 30;"  just yet. Please let me know when you get a chance.  Thanks!

If a report gets stuck in the Queued status, it means that the services that MR is using are not running. I would log on to the MR Server, and start the Management Reporter Process and Application Server. If it shows that they are started, stop and restart them.

Once they have been started, you should see your reports start to process.

    The above process worked.

    Hi Sergio,

My IT person did the restart MR Process Service and that worked for me.

Thanks Laura.  I have restarted both services and the reports are still showing up in the queue as "Cancelling".  Subsequent reports (different reports) have since run and completed successfully.  I am just trying to clear out the "Cancelling" items from the queue.  I have seen other threads indicating that you can clear the reports out by running SQL scripts. However, the SQL scripts fail with a  Procedure ControlReportScheduleTask_SchedulingTask, Line 7

Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression. The statement has been terminated.

    Hello BMCTech,

Please start a new forum thread for your questions. The cause of the issue must be different since the confirmed solution does not resolve the problem for your environment. In the new thread, please include some additional details such as the full MR version number and the exact process you are taking to troubleshoot the issue.

    Thanks!
