Download an Excel every month

ReportReport

Hi mates! :)

I have a new issue (sigh...), I want to download an Excel file every month. You know that we can Open Excel (and download it) when we want, but I want to do it automatically every month.

How can I do it? For example, I want to download Excel from Sales Orders every month, all the table.

Thank you so much! :D

I have the same question (0)

Are you talking about SaaS or on-premise environment?

On-premise you can use Job Queue and create a procedure that generates an Excel report (with Excel Buffer) on the folder you want and that runs every month.

On SaaS you can use other tools. We do things like this with Timer Trigger Azure Functions that reads data through APIs and creates the Excel file where you want.

    Hi Stefano!

I'm talking about SaaS. I can use Job Queue but only for reports, not for tables (Could be wrong haha).

    Some idea? ty!

Yes you can use Job Queue for reports. You can create a ProcessingOnly report that extracts data from the table you want and creates an Excel File as needed. The report can then be sent to the report Inbox of the user.

Navigate to Job Que Entries and click new+

Select Report and then click the 3 dots on Object ID field to select the report required (i have selected the outstanding sales order status)

I have set a maximum no of attempts at 2 and to wait 5 seconds between attempts

I have the set when this is vailid from using the earliest start date/time

    Then on the next tab

Depending on the report you might want to define some things so you can use report request page to enter these

You can set how the report is output i have selected exel

    The last tab is recurrence

Put when you want it to run and use a formula in the next run formula field

Here is a useful link to using formulas

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/ui-enter-date-ranges#using-date-formulas

It will then when run be in my report inbox on the role centre

and you can open it from there

Thank you so much Paul! :)

The problem is, we want a report of a table, Sales Order and I can't found it on "3 dots" section (hahaha)

There is not this report. I want the same information when we download the Excel on Sales Order page.

    Page -> Open in Excel

That's the problem, the report is not there :(

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!!

    Hello and you are welcome,

I think you will need the partner you use to create a code unit/process only report for you to do this.

Although if you explain to them why you need this they may have a better solution (i.e. if it is used for integration to another system)
