Table Style Templates in AOT not retaining settings

I'm creating a new Table Style Template.  I expand the AOT > SSRS Reports > Report Style Templates  and right click Table Style Templates and choose New Table Style Template.   I then expand GroupLevel1Style and double click FieldCaptionStyle.  On the Cell Style Editor box that appears, I then select Borders and Fill and change the Style drop down from None to Dashed and click OK.  However, when I double click on FieldCaptionStyle and then the Borders and Fill tab to check it is still there as Dashed, it has reverted to None.

Any ideas why this is happening?

In fact none of the options in Borders and Fill, therefore, Fill Colour, Style, Color or Width, stay when their settings are modified.  They all revert.  I'm thinking it must be something simple...Also, not sure if this is relevant, but where the Borders options are, there is a big red X and it is not possible to change this.
