I was able to download and install Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2013 as demo. When I tried to run Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2013 (I believe that is the role tailored client), I get the message "You are not authorized to sign in. Verify that you are using valid credentials and that you have been set up as a user in Microsoft Dynamics NAV."
I have not been able to find anything telling me how I can actually start using the demo copy of Dynamics NAV.
QUESTION: How do I get authorized to sign in if I can't run the client?
QUESTION: How do I access the demo database in the Microsoft Dynamics Development Environment?
Info:
Demo installed on Win 7 computer that is not on a domain, it is in a workgroup called workgroup.
I am able to open Development Environment but there does not seem to be either a database or company open there, and I have not been able to figure out how to open the demo database.
I am able to run Microsoft Dynamics Nav Server; in that I see a Server Instance called "DynamicsNAV70" under Microsoft Dynamics NAV (local).

I never was able to get into Dynamics NAV 2013 demo. I spent at least 30 hours trying to correct settings, permissions, connections and more, but none of it worked. I finally had to install Nav 2015.
I uninstalled Dynamics NAV 2013 and SQL Management and tried to reinstall, but still could not get into the demo. I then removed everything for NAV 2013 and anything to do with SQL, deleted from the registry almost every reference to SQL and Dynamics, and deleted as many folders from my hard drive that had anything to do with SQL and Dynamics NAV, including the original install files that I downloaded.
I then downloaded Dynamics NAV 2015 and unzipped the download file, then tried to install. I had to cancel the install, and download and install Windows Management Framework 3.0 first, but after I did that I was able to install Dynamics NAV 2015 by running the setup.exe file as Administrator.
I don't know if I failed to run the NAV 2013 setup as Administrator, or if the NAV 2013 demo installation does not work as well as it should.
Once again, thank you all so much for your patience and support. I have quite a bit of experience with the pre-Microsoft Navision, but not with the SQL version and not with the newest things like the reporting and Role Tailored Client parts. I have seen other posts by each of you in answer to other questions and they were helpful as well. I am not sure this question ever got a real answer since the problem could have been with my computer or with the way I installed the software.
Hi,
Did you succeed?
Hi,
Go to SSMS , Select the database which you restored --> Right click -->New Query
Execute the below query
delete from [dbo].[User]
delete from [dbo].[Access Control]
delete from [dbo].[User Property]
Check the database permission Weather you have dbowner for that database.
Check you have uploaded the correct licence in database
Change the log on a/c as "Local System"
Restart the service
RTC Should Open - After RTC Open don't forget to add the user name in user setup.
Hope it will be useful
Hi
If you are receiving the error You are not authorized to sign in when accessing RTC, you can refer the below links how to access for first time
http://saurav-nav.blogspot.in/2012/12/you-are-not-authorized-to-sign-in.html
http://saurav-nav.blogspot.in/2014/05/nav-2013-nav-2013-r2-you-do-not-have.html
once you are able to access RTC, then setup your user in the users with SUPER permissions so next time you won't receive any error

Well it looks like I got stuck with <bad word> up Microsoft <bad word>. I decided I would try to uninstall Dynamics NAV, remove the sample database and start over again. I was able to uninstall Dynamics NAV, but in order to remove the database I made the mistake of trying to follow Microsoft's <bad word> instructions. This means downloading and installing SQL Server Management Studio. When I did this six months ago, it was easy to find the download and install it. When I tried to download SQL Server Studio 2012 I was given a list of almost a dozen files totalling over 5 GB. I tried just downloading and installing the file that had "SQLManagementStudio" in its name, but after that downloaded and installed, there was no Management Studio on my computer, and the program that did run did not have any way to remove a database. Now I am downloading all 5.5 GB of downloads and going to install them to see if THAT will give me a way to remove the database.
Then I will try to reinstall the demo and see if I can access the database through either the Windows client or the Development environment. Thank you Tharanga, I will post again after I have reinstalled whether or not I am successful, and I will print your reply to use when I try to get in again.
I had to put all these blank lines in because I typed more than five lines, but the web-page only shows the first five lines and the text blinks on and off every time I press a key, unless I put a whole bunch of blank lines in and then move back up from the bottom.
You do not have to have a domain in order to log to Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Since you are a single user and your database and service is in the same computer). However check your windows user has the permission mapped to Microsoft Dynamics NAV Demo database in the SQL.
2. Open development environment -> File -> Open Database -> Provide Server Name | User Name and Password or Choose Windows Authontication -> Select Database - Click Open.
