How to create a FedEx tracking link?

I have a request to add a tracking number on our order form so that our sales reps can click a link to track shipments. It's easy enough to put a field on the form containing the URL to track the package, but there is a desire not to see the whole, long URL. So is there a way I can add a button or simply display something like "Track" in the field so that it is a hyperlink to the actual full URL? We are on Dynamics 365 online.

Hi,

You need to add button on Ribbon and call JS function from ribbon button that will launch your URL when user click on button and your URL will be in hidden field in form

you can create an HTML WebResource that will display the link (fetching the tracking number from the order entity)

Guido - would you have the details you could share with me? I don't have much experience with using HTML, but I have tried this based on some posts I have read, but I must be doing something wrong because my web resource on the form only displays the HTM code I pasted in there and altered to fit my URL. I will have the full URL in a field called new_trackingurl so I am in need of the exact HTM code to use to display the contents of that field as "Track Shipment". Thanks,

Hi,

If you want an official answer to this, you can use the FedEx Tracking API provided by FedEx. The API allows you to generate tracking URLs dynamically by appending the tracking number to a base URL.

Visit the FedEx Developer Resource Center (https://www.fedex.com/en-us/developer.html) and sign up for an account. This will give you access to the necessary resources and documentation.

Construct the dynamic tracking link: Once you have the tracking number, you can construct the dynamic tracking link by appending the tracking number to the base tracking URL provided by FedEx. The base URL usually follows this format:

https://www.fedex.com/fedextrack/?trknbr="NUMBER HERE"
