Skipping of number in number sequence.

Hi,

Please anyone know that why the number sequence is not re-use even the "continuous" check box in the number sequence form is selected?

In my case, I have created PO  and then Canceled and Deleted it immediately. Then, when I create another new PO the running number is not re-used.

Ex.

1) I create PO (I get PO no. 001)

2) I delete/Cancel PO no. 001

3) Again I create PO (I get PO no. 002)

So now my PO no. is skip and not continuous.

Thank you.

Canceled in this way.

Edit: When I saw Andre's link, I thought I had sent the same link, but then I realized that I added the wrong link.

I am entering a different link so that those who will review this title in the future do not waste time. This is a 365 link, but it will be more helpful than a link that has nothing to do with the topic.

    Hi D365 Technical Learner,

It might take a while until the skipped / deleted number gets reused.

You can check that in your number sequence configuration.

Most of the time an automatic reuse is initiated on a daily basis.

You can change that timing of course.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi D365Technical Learner.

Have a look at a very old question with replies. It explains different scenarios and root causes.

Probably the PO numbering is not supporting the continuous option. Or the old number is in the status list not released for re-use yet. There is usually no legal requirement to have PO numbers continuous.
