How to send a lead a marketing email in a journey?

How do you send a lead a marketing email in a journey?

I am able to send a marketing list of contacts a marketing email in a journey, however I can not figure out how to send to a list of leads.

The only thing I can find that is different between the too is when I go to the marketing list: the contacts say subscription true, and the leads say subscription false.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

I have the same question (0)

You can't - only to Contacts.  It is really annoying, as the first email is probably part of qualifying the Lead (in our case it was sending them an acknowledgement of submitting the marketing form email - but we had to create the contact also so we could send it).

    Hi Partner,

Please refer to following article for how to market to leads with Dynamics 365 Marketing.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/market-to-leads

To sum up, you still need to create contact record to represent lead.(Associate them with relationship.)

Next, build a segment based on lead, it will find associated contacts.

Finally, run customer journey for the segment.

In Dynamics 365 Marketing, there is a default boolean field "Marketing only" for Contact entity to differentiate types of contacts.

Therefore, you can set up list views for salespeople that only show sales-qualified contacts without including the marketing-only contacts.

(And create another view to only show marketing-only contacts.)

The idea that using lead entity in customer journey and email marketing has also been summited by other member of community, you could vote on it.

(More votes an idea gets, the more likely it is to be implemented.)

    Hi BCRM,

    Thank you for the question.

Currently, messages can only be sent to contacts.

However, we plan to extend this functionality to leads and other entities in the future.

    Best Regards,

    Aga
