Unit Cost adjustment when reducing item quantity

I need help adjusting the unit cost when reducing an inventory item by using "adjustment" in the "item transaction entry" window.

We made a mistake when entering the BOM and we need to reduce a finished goods quantity at the original cost we incurred not the average cost.

Thanks for the help

    Hi,

Are you using the Manufacturing module?

If so, make a reverse receipt then make a reverse issue.

    Thanks for the reply Imad,

But no we are not using the Manufacturing module. I am trying to do a regular adjustment to the inventory to reduce the quantity and change the cost.

At the momet I can't change the cost when reducing the inventory quantity. It will let me adjust the cost only when increasing the quantity

    Hi,

Go to GP tools, Utilities, Inventory, Cost Adustment, Select the item number and warehouse

Then select the receipt, Enter the adjusted cost then click on process.

Depending on the item valuation method; the system will generate a Journal entry report which should be created and posted in G/L

The system will update the unit cost.

    Thanks,

How about if I want to make a negative adjustment entry and enter my own cost. The way it is now, it will calculate the cost automatically and you can't enter a different cost.

Try going to Transaction, Inventory, Transaction entry. Then try to make a negative quantity adjustment and change the unit cost.

    Hi,

With the transaction type adjustment, you can not reduce the quanitity and the cost at the same time.

Cost adjustment is only allowed when increasing the quantity.

So, the only way to reduce the cost is by the way I described.

    Thanks.
