the barcode on the POS 2009 customer reciept does not scan, it did in RMS so i know its a feature that should work.

POS 2009 requires you to use the opos driver for the scanner or you can use the generic opos usb scanner driver under the register properties. This is required to scan and recall a receipt. Also helps to solve some other issues like speed of adding items and not answering prompts when an item is scanned.
as for what you said,it has sth.wrong with either barcode generator or barcode scanner, so,try to change another one of them
As I met such problem, I would choose another barcode generator and scanner, you can try this barcode generator and scanner, just in case.

The issue is with the "*" at the start and end of the barcode, they are start/stop control characters in a code39 barcode. Just to check, on your till with the barcode scanner, open up wordpad and scan a receipt and see what it comes back with.
