Default financial dimension on project timesheet

Hi

I have setup default financial dimension for a project id. However, no dimensions are defaulted on a worker. while entering the timesheet, I can see the financial dimensions defaulted from project id. I tried to post the timesheet and I got an error message that the combination of financial dimensions are missing. Then I selected the default dimensions on a worker and this time the timesheet posted successfully.

My question is: shouldn't the timesheet post from the financial dimensions that came over from the project Id? If yes, then how do I make sure that timesheet posts with financial dimensions from project Id instead of it validating the financial dimensions from the worker.

Thanks

Harsha

    Hello Harsha,

Do you have the findim default value set up at the project level?

If so - and assuming that the employee is not set up with a findim - the findim from the project shall be selected.

If this is not the case then check your system version to ensure that this is not due to an old bug.

Alternatively, talk with your system admins to ensure that this behavior is not the result of a system modification that has been made.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig

Financial dimension is setup at project level and employee level. However timesheet populates the financial dimension from the employee record. If this is how dynamics works, I am fine with it but if this is controlled with a parameter then I would like to know where it is setup which findim populates in timesheet entry.

    Thanks

    Hi Harsha,

When users will enter the timesheet, then the project dimensions are considered for the project-cost part of the posting. The cost offset transaction will use the dimensions from the worker if this is required from the accounting structure for this account. This is why you experience this behavior that you need to fill the dimensions on the worker.

So the project cost is on the project dimensions and the payroll offset is using the worker dimensions

    Hi Andre'

Thanks for the response. That makes sense and that is what I noticed at the voucher transaction.

    Thanks

    Harsha
