CRM 2016 Security Roles Detailed Explanation

I very much need a detailed explanation to what each specific security role is used for under each tab?  Where can I find a documentation for this?  It is not very efficient creating a security role and test driving each privilege. Does anyone have any information on this?

    Hi Chrys,

not sure this is exactly what you are looking for, but it might be close enough:

Thanks Alex. I have seen that before. I guess I need to explain a little more. I'd like to know what the "entity" is of each tab (Core Records, Business Management, etc.), such as a Position and if I give the "Position" create on a BU, what does that mean? What is a Position (I don't have a need to know at the moment, just an example).  And if User Settings are all left blank, the user doesn't have access; so what is User Settings all about, what does that allow a user to do? Of course I know what all of the custom entities are but the out of the box stuff is difficult to setup security roles if you don't know what each "entity" is and it's purpose. Can I find details on these things?

    Thank you,

    Chrys

    Hi Chrys,

I see the problem.. but I've never seen this kind of comprehensive security guide for Dynamics. Would also suggest this link, though:

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg309396.aspx

You will find categorized list of entities on the left side there:

Either way.. personally, if I need to create a new security role, I would usually look at one of the existing roles, make a copy, remove whatever I don't need and add what I do need to the new role. But I agree, this is a bit of a trial and error process.
