We recently upgraded from Dynamics GP 2013 to Dynamics GP 2018. When we were on 2013, we made extensive use of Business Portal. We had several issues with BP but really it was just poorly laid out and mostly worked. Due to tax updates not be available for GP 2013 this year, we were forced to upgrade and we decided to go to the latest version.
At this point, I'm not sure how GP 2018 made it past preliminary testing. We have had constant issues since the first day we went live. It would seem that the employee self service portal is completely unable to manage old/disconnected sessions so our application server constantly runs out of memory. Some users will have 8-10 sessions with some being as old as two weeks old. We now have to restart that server once a day, sometimes more. The ESS portal does not support any kind of windows authentication so users are forced to login every time they access the page (something even Business Portal supported). Customizing the ESS home page view is a nightmare sometimes leading to content not showing, content displayed in a box that is too small to do anything with, or even duplicates of some pieces of content (two copies of Time Management). Then you get into all the major issues. Users will randomly get a spinning circle loading icon at the top right of the page that will never go away and this makes their session unusable and forces them to start over, often times losing the work they had been doing. When entering time on a timecard in ESS, you are unable to use whole numbers without decimals. If you type the number 8 and tab to the next field, it replaces it with 0.08 which is utterly useless and causes constant timecard rejection. A user has to manually add every paycode they need to each week of the timecard individually (on Business Portal, your default paycodes would always show up). Randomly all the images and icons in the ESS portal for a use will be unavailable showing the missing image icon.
There are actually way more issues than this but I felt I needed to stop there. It's completely possible the the vendor that did the upgrade for us didn't know what they were doing and this isn't everyone else's experience. I'm just wondering if everyone is dealing with these kinds of problems and what you may be doing to work around them. If this is just the way GP 2018 is, Microsoft should be ashamed for putting out such a bug laden product.
