DU000010, DU000020, DU000030 What should these tables look like?

Our production Dynamics GP is at version 9.00.0293.  We are ready to upgrade to Dynamics GP 2010 R2 with the latest service pack KB2552044.  First we will bring GP 9 up to version 9.00.0388.

The first attempt had some errors and warnings about not finding the file versions.  I looked at the DU000010, DU000020 & DU000030 tables from the production environment and saw that some of the Major/Minor versions are at a lower version than either 9 0 293 or 9  0 388

So, my first question is, if an upgrade is 100% successful, what values should be left in these tables?  It looks like DU000010 has conversion "instructions" .... should there really be any records in this table if the upgrade is completed?  Should I clean out this table or change the Major/Minor and Build versions to what we thought we had successfully upgraded to?  We've been using this version on GP 9 daily since 2008.

The plan was to install GP 2010 R2 fresh on a new server and database with skeleton company databases for the two company databases that we use in our live environment.  Then complete the upgrade by restoring full backups of the GP9 version of the two databases; update the DU tables from a copy of the GP9 Dynamics database and run the upgrade.  This plan was based on the KB article that gives the restart upgrade directions.

Those directions expect that the companyIDs match for the updates and that the copied records are accurate for the versions and build.   It looks like I can change the companyID to match what the new server/Dynamics database has.  But I am not sure what to do about the Major/minor versions.

Is there anyone out there that has a good understanding of how these table can be set correctly?

Thank you in advance for any information you have.

    Hi Emily,

You are correct the DU000010 table is the table that tells GP Utilities what to upgrade. NEVER delete any records out of this table. This table should always have records in it and deleting records can cause serious issues.

I would highely recommend downloading and reading the entire upgrade manual as it sounds like this may be your first upgrade. Here is a link to that file:

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../hottopic_mdgp2010_update.htm

You do not need to change anything in the DU000010, DU000020 or Db_upgrade when doing an upgrade. All of these tables will be updated by GP Utilities correctly. The only table you ever want to make any changes to would be the DU000030 BEFORE the upgrade and you can delete the records our of this only before you begin the upgrade. If you delete records in this table during the upgrade you are giong to run into a lot of issues.

    Thanks
