Is it possible to delete somehow dimension values which have already been used in some postings? I know that the question is a bit broad buzt yeah, i have almost no way to know exactly in which entries the dimensions have been used.

    RE: Deleting dimension values

Hi, you can block dimension value for example.

If you are using NAV2013 & later you can analise where dimension value is used in dimension set entry table (480).

And when you find dimension set entry ID you can analise it in Entry tables (17, 21, 25 etc.)

I would suggest rather than deleting the dimension better option change the dimension value.

    RE: Deleting dimension values

Hi! thanks for your answers, I'll do the configuration worksheet approach, it seems to be working by now to delete a bunch of dimensions assigned to items, then when they are all deleted I guess I could delete the dimension values.

    Pollux1986,

Only you can delete the dimensions that are not links with entries , if you are going to delete those the error message will show you you cant delete it

so that you can try delete unwanted dimension values , if system not allowed to delete you mean its already mapped to some posted or in open entries

    RE: Deleting dimension values

I suppose when you delete the dimensions, assigned to items, you just clean the default dimension values in the item card? If so, it does not get you to the aim of elimination of dimensions and their values from the system.

You would not be able to delete dimension value in case it has been already used in the posting. What you can do is as Dmitry offered to block this dimension value from further usage (msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh171005%28v=nav.90%29.aspx;MSPPError=-2147217396) and/or rename it to let the user understand it is not for the use anymore.

By blocking the dimension value, even you will have them as default values selected on the item cards, users would not be able to make postings with those.

    RE: Deleting dimension values

I have a devloped functionality which in theory deletes all postings, so there should be no postings anymore to stop me from deleting dimension's values nevertheless I get the error message when I try to do so that the dimension has already been used in "posted or budget entries". Is there any way to know where dimensions have been used? like to what postings have they been applied to? Please notice I have no developer license, I saw another post very similar to this one but still not quite, which depicted how to check where dimensions are applied , unfortunately one needs more than a user license
