Microsoft Dynamics on OSX?

Hi,

I am trying to understand Microsoft Dynamics. I have a customer which I am recommending go to Office 365 to get hosted email all well and good. However, they asked me about managing the prospects
and doing things like bulk emails to there customers. Now the other catch is they are using a Macintosh (OSX).

So first question is this possible with Outlook 2016 MAC (I am assuming not).

If not can this run on OSX. I think dynamics is an add-on you can get through Office 365 and the dynamics is done via the web ??

I know that the dynamics is a large product - so hoping to get a good starting point on this :)

Am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Thanks,

Ward.

The standard outlook client does not run within outlook on the Mac - but you can use the new Dynamics CRM App through the outlook web app - blogs.technet.com/.../tracking-in-outlook-web-app-coming.aspx

    Hope this helps,

    Scott,

Thanks for your response - would I be able to use that to do the group emailing or could I do that through Outlook Mac 2016?

    Thanks,

If you want to send emails to a marketing list using direct mailing you can still do this using the web client and server-side sync.

    See - www.microsoft.com/.../send-bulk-email-to-customers.aspx

    Hope this helps,

    Hello;

We have been running our Dynamics CRM On-prem installation with exclusively Macintosh clients since mid-2012 (originally deployed CRM 3 with Outlook Laptop clients in early 2006 and have periodically upgraded since).  In late April of this year, we migrated to CRM 2015 and so far, so good, with relatively few issues.  We presently have about 100 users, most remote.  The CRM web client will run natively in OS-X only in the Safari browser and while there are some occasional page rendering quirks, the user functionality is good and the application stable.  Performance of 2015 compared with 2011 and 2013 is superior.  The bulk of the performance and stability issues we encounter are in the parts of the interface that remain largely unchanged from CRM 2011 - Notably, the Administration and Customization pieces.   They work, but can be quirky and prone to occasional hangs or browser crashes.  The good news is that very seldom is any work ever lost, and we've been able to work around things fine.   Our system has significant customizations and some custom entities, so there may be things that we encounter that the average user wouldn't.

We're starting down the road implementing Office 365 (All of our Macintosh systems are presently running Office 2011 Home & Business Edition) so will soon understand what changes, if any that environment brings.  We do some very little bulk mailing at present, but have the E-mail router and some server-side sync functionality turned on.  Historically we have used the 3rd Party tool Riva to provide selective E-mail, Appointment and Contact synchronization between CRM and Outlook.  Not perfect, but it gets us most of the way.  I continue to hope that MS will enhance the functionality of the Server-side synch piece.

Bottom line for us...  Dynamics CRM works well on our Macbook Air systems and none of our users wants to go back to the PC laptop/Windows/Outlook Offline Client combination we came from.

    I  hope this is helpful.

    Kind regards,

    Rob Adams
