
As far as I can tell, there are no restrictions to setting up Database Mail on the SQL Server used by Dynamics CRM. Please correct me if I am wrong. Are there any best practices beyond the normal SQL Server standards that would be different due to the CRM application being involved?

Basically you would have to create an email record with appropriate sender who will be configured according to the above option and then send using SendEmailRequest.
