How can i set the keywords as a default value in the quick create form

Posted on by 407

Hi guys,

I enter the key words in the lookup field to search records, then click New button.

In the quick create form of Account.

The key words which i enter in the lookup field is set to the field of Account Name  as a default value in the quick create form of Account.

Just as show above,

I create a new lookup field(Address), after i click the New button.

The key words i enter in the lookup field doesn't set as a default value in the new quick create form.

    Hi Nithya,

I don't want to filter the records , i just want to set the default value when i click the +New button to add a new record.

    Hi Jack,

In the fetchXML part, you can filter the records by using the code below.

    <condition attribute="name" operator="like" value="keyword%" />

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Nithya,

    Thanks for your reply,

I enter the keywords to search for a related records in the lookup field. If i can't find it, i will click the +New button to add a new record. I will set the keywords which used for search as a default value in the new create form.

If i do as your suggestion, i don't know how to get the keywords which used for search related records in the lookup field.

    Hi Jack,

You can write javascript code for filtering the lookup and set a default custom view to the lookup.

    See: community.dynamics.com/.../lookup-filtering-using-addcustomview

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jack,

in the last two screenshots, are you "quick creating a lead" and, then, starting to "quick create" an address?

Can you try bringing up "address quick create"  from a regular lead form - would it work? I just think that two quick creates in a row is a bit too much for this functionality

    Hi Alex,

    Many thanks for your reply.

I have double checked the entity of Address, it is not allow Quick Create.

I create a new entity Address2 and allow Quick Create.

Add a lookup field address2 on the form of lead.

When click the +New link, the search text isn't automatically added to the Name field as shown below.

I don't know how to use this functionality in a custom entity?

    Hi Jack,

I think this only works for quick create forms:

    blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../new-capabilities-in-crm-lookups

What you have there for "New Address" does not look like a quick create form. If it's a custom entity, you need to enable quick create for that entity first (in the customizations area), and, then, you need to create a quick create form.

If it's an out-of-the-box Address entity (does not look so), then you cannot add quick create forms to that entity
