Setting up Dynamics GP Workflow Emails using Google Mail

Has anyone been able to successfully set up Dynamics GP Workflows (for Requisitions) to email via Google Mail? We are having issues setting this up since upgrading to 18.7 from a previous version that did not support MFA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[I personally have not set up any workflow clients with GMail accounts ... In the past, I have clients purchase a single-user O365 license and use that for workflow.]

Hi,

What you could do is to send the emails via Power automate and ignore the notifications in the workflow editor.

That means, you use the workflow engine\editor to create the workflow steps and conditions as well as the assignments to the users.

The sending out of the email is done by Power automate.

Now the question comes, how does Power automate knows when to send a mail and to whom?

Whenever you create a workflow, business events are created along with it. Here is an example of the Invoice Proposal Approval workflow. Works with any other workflow as well. You need to check which category to take as they all work pretty much the same but have different schema, depending which information from the business event should be passed to Power Automate.

In Power Automate you have connectors to Gmail. I havent worked with them tbh, but I would give it a try and its pretty easy to set up in order to check if it works.

We took the advice of having the client purchase a single user O365 license, however they had to use a different domain (since Google Mail was using their real domain).

Did you have to do that as well?

If so, did you have any issues with emails?

Drew, you should also be able to set up the workflow emails with SMTP relaying on Gmail. I do the similar set up with MS365 and run it through the SMTP address that every tenant gets.

The only thing is I usually set up a public IP address with their internet provider. Then it just works flawlessly -- never had to deal with MFA at all.

It should all be the same with Google.
