Intercompany Relationships

Hello Community,

I am setting up an intercompany trading relationship in D365F&O.

Entity A is the Sales relation, Entity B is the purchase relation.

When manually creating the PO, the SO will not auto create in Entity A. However, when I create a SO in Entity A, the PO will auto create in Entity B.

The trading relationship is set up properly, the product is released in both environments. The customer and vendor have a default mode of delivery, delivery terms, and currency... Can someone tell me why this is happening?

Thanks!

    Hi,
Just a quick tip. When creating your order (PO or SO), check if the intercompany toggle is activated. This is a quick way to identify a setup problem. Of course this does not solve the problem, but a good start.
    Best regards.

    Hi

The issue likely stems from change management being enabled for POs in Entity B, which blocks automatic SO creation in Entity A. This is a known limitation in D365F&O intercompany setups

Why SO Auto Creation Works Only One Way

SO in Entity A → PO in Entity B (Works) This is the standard intercompany flow. When you create a sales order in the selling entity, D365 automatically generates the corresponding PO in the buying entity if the intercompany setup is correct.

PO in Entity B → SO in Entity A (Fails) This flow fails when change management is enabled for purchase orders in Entity B. Change management requires manual approval or workflow submission, which prevents the system from auto generating the intercompany SO.
Direct delivery scenarios also face similar limitations when change management is active.

    Please refer the previous response.
