Cannot drill back because the item no longer exists on the bill of material

Hello:

When we drill back on an item's bill of material transaction, we get a message saying that we cannot drill back, because the item no longer exists on the bill of material.

The quantity for this bill of material shows as a -15.  

We have run reconcile on this item to no effect.

Any ideas?
