I have a client that we just upgraded to GP 18.5.1596 and now a couple of the users are getting a quick (too quick to capture) error when they generate a smartlist and try to use the EXCEL export button. It does not export at all. We have checked the DDE setting in Excel to verify it is not checked.
Any ideas?
Not something we've seen as of yet with the year-end or any GP update.
Is this a terminal/RDS server environment where all users access the same GP install but it's only one or two users that experience this issue with exporting SmartLists?
If not and users have their own GP installs on a local workstation, make sure they don't have any lines in the Dex.ini related to SmartList exporting that other users do not have in their .ini files, or that they are missing lines that others have.
This line, SmartListEnhancedExcelExport=TRUE, is an example.
Is it all SmartLists that they have issues with, including our defaults, or is it just a couple of the SmartList reports? If only a couple, can other users export those same reports to Excel without issue?
Also, if trying to export a larger amount of data, as a test, try exporting 1000 records and see if that makes any difference. Excel can handle larger data amounts, but SmartList is more designed to return around 1000 records or so.
The only other thing I can think of would be if there are special characters in the columns/records being exported into Excel, sometimes that can cause it not to export.
Otherwise, without an error, we're pretty much guessing, so you may have to do some investigation as to whether it's all or some SmartLists, difference between users, machines and/or GP installs, etc.
The Community here may have some additional thoughts as well.......
