FRx Currency Translation - doesn't work all of a sudden?

Hello,

I have a client on GP2013 R2 who still uses FRx. They have several foreign currencies in their databases, but basically use 2, British Pounds and US Dollars. So the controller was trying to clean up the currencies and exchange rates last week and inactivated a whole bunch of currencies and tables. Now, when running reports in FRx, nothing will print in GBP (from last year - they created a new British Pounds code to use this year). If I remove the Currency Display of USD (but leave Currency Rate Subtype ID of GBP) the report will print values in British Pounds. If I put the USD back in the currency display, NO VALUES are being reported. I have double checked the currency access, the exchange rate table, etc. and the company has access.

This report worked just fine until the controller started removing access to companies and exchange rates, now we can't get it to work. I even tried creating an exchange rate table in FRx but it isn't working either.

PLEASE HELP?? ANYONE?

I would like to do a bit of research on this, but my first assessment is that the CURIDX for the transactions is messed totally.

If the CODES were 'removed' or 'inactive' then a new code was created with the same ID, it should not work.

The CODES or IDX's would not line up.

Someone out here will know how to restore or recover the codes if that is possible

    Hi Heidi,

    Please try the following.

    1) Is the exchange rates and exchange rate table has access to the company if not give access for both.

    2) If its only access remove why will you create exchange rate again, if its removed and you are re-creating then have you created rate for all periods.

    3) Have you logged in to FRX as SA and build GL Index and run the reports.

    Hello Bill and Babu,

Thank you so much for your quick responses.

So, yes, we have given access back to both the currency and the exchange rate. We have rebuilt the GL index in the company.

I have not tried recreating the rates for the periods - do you mean create a whole new exchange table?

Keep the ideas flowing, please!! :)

    Thanks,

    Heidi

    Also, question:

If I choose in FRx > Report > Currency Translation Tab to use the General Ledger as the Spot Rate Source, how does it know what exchange table in GP to use?

Maybe there's something in GP I need to do with the exchange table?

    1.  If they are using FRx the rates come from within FRx. (Once you go to MR2012 they come from within GP) Go to the admin table and down to the bottom is the access to the FRx multicurrency setup.  You need to find which DAX table it is pulling from, which you set up when you setup the companies in FRx.

    2.  Go to the DAX Current, Historical tables and verify that your rates are correct in the tables.  It could be that whatever they were using to pull in the rates is no longer working or someone has not been entering.

Sue you are correct and it makes me wonder if it is possible that the names provided for the currency in GP and the currency names in FRx no longer line up?

I am not sure if it uses the ID or the INDEX but I am betting that one of them is off.

As to the Rate Tables, I would think that if someone disabled them in the GL, they may not have been aware of the change that was needed periodically in the FRx application.

Can you not wait to get to Management Reporter, when all of that gets at least some what consolidated back to one application for the management of the rates and tables.

Hello everybody, I truly appreciate your responses - they definitely help!

The customer was using the GP rates in FRx so they didn't maintain anything in FRx.

They inactivated some currencies and exchange tables in GP(2013) and now FRx no longer works. We reactivated everything that could be related to GBP but still no luck.

I then tried to make the FRx exchange rates work. I updated the Historical and spot rates in FRx and made sure the rates are correct. What can I be missing?

Also I tried pasting screenshots but for some reason I can't. Is there anybody that could take 15 minutes and look at this with me?

And, sorry - they won't upgrade to MR because they are going to a BI tool and don't want to invest the time. :( So...this is what we get :(

Thanks Babu but it tells me all my screenshots are too big. Would you be willing to have me email them to you?
