FRx Currency Translation - doesn't work all of a sudden?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I have a client on GP2013 R2 who still uses FRx. They have several foreign currencies in their databases, but basically use 2, British Pounds and US Dollars. So the controller was trying to clean up the currencies and exchange rates last week and inactivated a whole bunch of currencies and tables. Now, when running reports in FRx, nothing will print in GBP (from last year - they created a new British Pounds code to use this year). If I remove the Currency Display of USD (but leave Currency Rate Subtype ID of GBP) the report will print values in British Pounds. If I put the USD back in the currency display, NO VALUES are being reported. I have double checked the currency access, the exchange rate table, etc. and the company has access.

This report worked just fine until the controller started removing access to companies and exchange rates, now we can't get it to work. I even tried creating an exchange rate table in FRx but it isn't working either.

PLEASE HELP?? ANYONE?

Babu is a savior! I changed it to CCSPOT and made sure the rates were correct and it worked! I still don't know why the historical rate is being a pain but whatever, it worked!

    Thank you!

    Heidi,

Please try to remove or change it to CCSPOT exchange rate type.

    So here's an update:

I do not want the individual columns to print (I want each month to use their actual exchange rate and then add up in another column, so they are NP on purpose). :)

But, Babu helped, so we are closer. I did not have an exchange rate type (CCHIST, CCSPOT, etc) selected in the row format. I chose CCHIST because (I believe) I want the historical rate from that period to be used. I did that and then got an error that the balances didn't match. See screenshot of the error and my row format.

    We're getting there!

    Hi Heidi,

Next to USD on column you have NP which mean it wont print the column but used for calculation.  If this is not the case please remove the NP and try to generate the report.  Also the the screen shot is very small and not clear.  Please email babubaskaran@outlook.com so that it will be clear.

Heidi you need to make sure your screen shots are 38kb max.

To make this happen open them in MS Paint and click on resize and make them smaller

Thanks Babu but it tells me all my screenshots are too big. Would you be willing to have me email them to you?

Also I tried pasting screenshots but for some reason I can't. Is there anybody that could take 15 minutes and look at this with me?

And, sorry - they won't upgrade to MR because they are going to a BI tool and don't want to invest the time. :( So...this is what we get :(

Hello everybody, I truly appreciate your responses - they definitely help!

The customer was using the GP rates in FRx so they didn't maintain anything in FRx.

They inactivated some currencies and exchange tables in GP(2013) and now FRx no longer works. We reactivated everything that could be related to GBP but still no luck.

I then tried to make the FRx exchange rates work. I updated the Historical and spot rates in FRx and made sure the rates are correct. What can I be missing?
