Hi -

  • I have delete from table dimensionattributevaluecombination (I was deleted some record for fixed assets while AX removed the filter before I pressed delete so it deleted lot of other records)
  • I have restored the table from a backup 30 days backup cause the customer had the backup failed for a month.
  • So we have this table old dated around 30 days back while all other dimensions table are not missing any data.
  • I tried to make a script to insert records for assets available in dimensionattrivulelevelitem but not in dimensionattributevaluecombination but the system is not allowing me to add any data to dimensionattributevaluecombination by script neither manual and it always gives that the dimension combination already exist( it appears the value is still in the index table maybe not in the main table dimensionattributevaluecombination).

Please suggest a way out to normalize data.

    Hi Muhammad,

This is the not the first time, I read/experience that something like this happened and the backup is failing. I'm sorry, but the data model is quite complex. To reconstruct the lost data, you could only try to find out how the data model is being maintained and try to create correction scripts. If you don't have the proper knowledge, you can consider hiring some local experts on-site to help you.

This is also the reason why Microsoft is now offering a full managed cloud solution where the backup is guaranteed.
