Why are Campaigns automatically changing prices before the campaign is selected on the sales order

I've noticed that when you set up campaign discounts it's automatically applying it to the contact selected in the segment. This change is really inconvenient. The price on the sales order should only change when the campaign is selected on the sale order so that we can manage which invoice/sales order that discount is applied to. I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, has a way around it or knows why this was implemented?  thank you

    Happy New Year,

If the Campaign Target check box on the Campaign FastTab of segment card is selected, the sales prices/line discounts are activated for all contacts in the segment. If the sales prices/line discounts are not to be offered to all the contacts in the segment, you can clear the Campaign Target check box on lines for the contacts in question.

Understand that if you uncheck the Campaign Target, the Campaign pricing will not auto populate. You will not see the Campaign under the Sales Line/Line/Function/Get Prices (pic below).

Hope this answer your question. For me I would keep it active, since you are activating the campaign and the customer, buying the item, deserve the campaign price discount.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Thanks for your response Steve.  I don't find this update helpful. If I'm making a sales order for a product that is being purchased I want to control when they are getting. It used to be the price wouldn't change on the sales order until the campaign was selected. right now the price is being changed regardless of whether the campaign is selected or not. I was hoping to use this similar to a coupon code.

    cheers,

    Hello,

Sorry to hear this. Please understand that a Campaign, when setup and segments attached (Customers), the Campaign Pricing will only work if activated. If you do not activate the Campaign Target, then the Campaign Price will not appear under Sales Prices or update on entry.

I tested a Campaign and Activated the Campaign and Target. I entered a Sales Order for my Item and my Unit Price appeared as 0.00. I can click Line/Get Prices to pull-in a Sales Price, whether Campaign or Discount (see pick below). Maybe you can give me your example and I will test in my BC version.

    Hi,

The field "Campaign No" on the Sales Header does not have any direct impact on the pricing. The field is used for dimension handling (default dimensions can be assigned to a campaign and transferred to sales documents).

The system selects minimal price among all prices available for this customer: Prices assigned directly for specific customer, for all customers, for customer price group selected in customer card, campaigns (the linking is happening via segments/contacts).

So as soon as you haven an activated campaign, it will be considered for finding the best price for the sales document.

    Hope this helps.

    thank's Katrin,

when we first started using business central it was as I described. The price would only change when the campaign was selected on the sales order. I understand now that this is no longer the case but it is unfortunate as I thought it made more sense before. with the way it's set up now it doesn't seem to make sense that there would be an option to select the campaign at all on the sales order.

    thank you,
