I have configured Ingenico i6550 on windows 7 and its working for credit cards and signature with RMS. But Debit Card is not working? anyone know how to do it or its still unknown?

When I tender transaction as Debit Card in RMS, a screen appears to ask for card number and expiray date, at that time device shows products and prices, when I swipe debit card, RMS reads card information and when I click on next, another screen comes "Enter Pin, ask customer to verify amount then press ENTER and then enter pin". At this point screen on device is blank and nothing happens.

    Hello Adil,

    Thank you for your quesitons.

Please be sure that Retail Management System is on a version that is supported with Windows 7. Support for Windows 7 was added in Feature Pack 1 (2.0.0150).

We also reccomend updating the drivers for the i6550 to the latest version. Please contact Ingenico for the latest drivers that are compatible with Windows 7.

I have RMS 2.0.0155, its Service Pack 4. Drivers are latest compatible to Windows 7. Only Pin Based Debit Card does not work.

Ingenico told me that it needs to be Key Injected, I called First Data and EMPS both said they don't support this terminal on the network I'm on. They put me on Vital / VisaNet.

I don't know what to do now.

anybody else knows how to get it working for Pin Based Debit Cards for Vital/VisaNet provided by EMPS / First Data?

    Hello Adil,

    Thank you for the update.

I understand that Ingenico has suggested having the device injected with an encryption key.

Enrcyption is required for pin debit.

If your payment processor is unable to inject the device with their encryption key, you may not be able to use the device.

I would find out whether the Ingenico Pin Pad supports the encryption type that First Data is using. Call First Data and find out what kind of encryption they use. Is it 3DES, DKUPT, or something else? If the Ingenico Pin Pad Supports the encryption that First Data uses, it will be harder for First Data to tell you that the Pin Pad is unsupported. Sometimes you have to be assertive with these financial institutions. This will give you some leverage in obtaining at least an explanation as to why the Ingenico Pin Pad is not supported on First Data's Vital / Visanet / TSYS network.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

This is an old question, but one that people continually seek answers for the same problem.

    - i6550 end of life was announced in 2011; when this happens, there is a phase out period including when first processors will no longer allow the terminals on new merchant accounts, and then later on existing accounts.

    - Ingenico signature capture devices do work with First Data

    - Debit encryption injection can only be completed by an authorized facility, usually an equipment distributor. Merchants cannot get this done directly, but instead have to contact their salesperson or support to arrange for the injection for security reasons.
