Hi All,

In Dynamics CRM 2016 (8.1) on premise, If I create new email message or edit a draft email in Google Chrome ( Version 61.0.3163.79), body of email is locked. Other fields (To,CC, Subject etc) are fine. After searching online, looks like its old issue with Dynamics CRM 2013.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2916958/you-can-t-edit-the-description-field-of-a-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2013

I've already check these setting

Settings->Administration->System Settings [Email Tab]->"Use secure frames to restrict e-mail message content'' -> set to 'No'

but still same issue.

any suggestions or comments regarding this issue?

Thanks,

    Had this issue lately. I finally switched to editing my email body in Mozilla after even IE had it's own issues.

    Give Firefox a try for editing your email body!

    Add this code to a javascript web resource and use it on Email form and call "unlockBodyLoad" method.

    function unlockBodyLoad() {
       setTimeout(unlockBody, 3000);
    }

    function unlockBody() {
       //defaultvalue="" style='overflow-wrap: break-word;' contenteditable='true'
       var editorFrame = parent.frames['descriptionEditIFrame'];
       var attEditable = editorFrame.contentDocument.body.getAttribute('contenteditable');
       if (attEditable) {
       } else {
           var editAtt = editorFrame.contentDocument.createAttribute('contenteditable');
           editAtt.value = 'true';
           var styleAtt = editorFrame.contentDocument.createAttribute('style');
           styleAtt.value = 'overflow-wrap: break-word;';
           editorFrame.contentDocument.body.setAttributeNode(editAtt);
           editorFrame.contentDocument.body.setAttributeNode(styleAtt);
       }
    }

    This is a known issue with Google Chrome and the email Description field is disabled.

    See the following link:

    support.microsoft.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-365-online-and-on-premises-update-2-1

    Email body is disabled while using Chrome in Citrix, and Chrome Incognito mode in Windows. Although it says Citrix and Incognito only, I experienced this issue with Chrome in different versions and modes.

    I would check if there is an update for this for CRM 8.1

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Shakib,

    I was facing the above described issue so I used your query and it did make the body editable in CHROME  but after sending the mail, the typed message disappears. However, any attachment used stays there.

    Can you help?
