Hi everyone, I created some data entities and then went to the data management for creating a data package but it threw errors saying "DMF service was not found". So I checked the setup and I am getting this error in the thread title when I try to validate the DIXF parameters.

I am running Dynamics 365 for Operations (1611) on a local VM with framework update 4.

Can you please guide me as to what this service URL should be if not this? or what else do I need to do to in order to get this sorted?

Hi,

What message do you get if you select the validate button? Have you checked that all Services are running on your local VM?

Hi,

Thanks for your response, I went to the local services but I don't see the DMF or DXF services there.

What would be the services names if not that? and if the services are not running, how do I start them?

For AX 2012 it used to be called as Microsoft Dynamics AX Data Import Export Framework Service, which was a standalone application for processing DIXF requests. I am unsure if they have kept the name and architecture the same for D365fO, but you could give it a try to see if it is there in services.msc and start it if you found it and is stopped.

The service would be

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations - Data Import/Export Framework Service

and the executable would be

Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Framework.Tools.DMF.SSISHelperService.exe

Thank you all so much. I found the service and started it. One more thing, I also had to start Azure storage emulator before I was able to use DIXF. Problem solved :)

Hi Heron,

It could be stopped because of certain issues in data projects or there is a known memory leak issue in DIXF which is fixed in PU34. In sandbox and Prod there is a watchdogs which are starting or restarting service in case of issues. In Devbox someone should go and start it manually.
