Duplicate Detection Rule works for an Entity and doesn't for another

Hello everyone,

I created a duplicate detection rule for the contact entity and I tested if I could save the record if the rule is applied to it and verified that no duplicate record could be saved. Then I created another duplicate detection rule for the account entity. But when I tested this rule, I was able to save the record. For this particular test, I did not get the duplicate detection message as on the first test. Any idea about what went wrong? Thank you

Please check this guide if you have missed a step? E.g. Publishing the rule at the end?

I recreated the rule again with those steps and made sure I published the rule at the end. This time I was able to see the duplicate detection message but I was able to save the record

Out of box duplicate detection dialog just displays a warning, it won't stop you from saving record, if you want to stop user you need to do custom development, for example you can have plugin.

    Hope it will help.

    Thanks

    Dear Mahen,

On my first post, I mentioned that the duplicate detection rule prevented me from saving the record for the contact entity and I used no plugin for that entity. I do not know why that happened

Here is the message I receive after trying to save the duplicate record for the Contact entity:

    Duplicate Record

"A record that has the attribute values Email already exists. The entity key Duplicate Contact on Email Match requires that this set of attributes contains unique values. Select unique values and try again."

    Hi Ashraf,

This message is coming from the entity alternatek keys and not from duplicate detection.

As mentioned in above posts, Duplicate Detection doesn't stop you from saving the record.

if you want, you can create the similar alternate keys for your account entity.

What I mean in out of the box even if it will display a duplicate dialog but if you will click on Save button again on the duplicate detection dialog won't stop you from saving, you can save duplicate record.

    Hope it will help.
