I'm creating a sandbox environment on a PC to test some imports and I'm getting an error message when trying to load SL for the first time: "Parent has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
The PC is running XP Pro SP3, .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, and SQL Server Express 2005 fully patched. I am using windows authentication. I installed the Advanced Management BRL version. The install, create empty database, and create demo database programs all completed with no error messages using all the default settings. The Dbbuild.log file is empty. In SQL Management Studio I now have SLApplication, SLDemoApp10, SLDemoApp60, SLDemoSystem, and SLSystem databases. There was no prior instance of SL installed on this PC (ever). I checked the available Hotfixes on PartnerSource, but none seemed applicable.
I appreciate any help anybody can offer.
