GP2016 Client Install

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I created the install package. Loaded the package onto a PC successfully. Started to run utilities and got to the part where it wanted to create the databases. The databases are already created on a server, don't want to do this on a user's PC. Anyone have a suggestion as to what went wrong.

Once you do the install make sure you default to the Dynamics DB and not give it an optional name. This is what I needed to do in my case. Secondly I needed to run a service pack before I ran utilities. I was getting the error from GP utilities ProductID  cannot be updated

I would start by making sure the data source you are using is pointed to the correct insrtance of SQL. Sounds like it is pointed someplace where there are no GP databases.
