Master Planning Issue

Hi,
I have a master planning question.
The master planning parameter states using the 'MP' dynamics master plan
Also, disable all planning processes is set to no

In the product setup:
The item is a released product
Coverage Group setup - Group
Minimum/Maximums for quantities are setup
Coverage Group - Group
Vendor account set up

When I run the master plan and filter on the item nothing shows up in the planned orders.  What setup am I missing?
thank you

    Hi,
If master planning is not generating planned orders for your item, despite the setups you've described, here are a few key things to check:
    1. Item coverage exists for the item:
      • Go to Product information management > Released products > Plan > Item coverage.
      • Ensure coverage rules exist for the site/warehouse combination you're planning.
    2. On-hand or demand exists:
      • Master planning only generates planned orders when there’s a need.
      • Check if the inventory level is below minimum or if there are sales orders, forecasts, or production demand driving a requirement.
    3. Approved and Active BOM/Route (if it's a manufactured item):
      • If it’s not a purchased item, master planning needs this to calculate supply correctly.
    4. Master plan setup:
      • Ensure the ‘MP’ master plan is active and properly configured under Master planning > Setup > Plans > Master plans.
      • Check that coverage settings are pulling from the correct coverage group/item.
    5. Ensure correct Site/Warehouse is used:
      • Master planning is sensitive to dimension setup. If your coverage group is set at site/warehouse level, make sure the product has correct default order settings.
Let us know if you’ve checked all of these and still not seeing anything

    Regards,
    Zain

    Good day,

What is the current on-hand inventory in comparison with the min/max setting?

    Best regards,

    Hi,
The current quantity on hand is 2254 units.  The minimum is 2300 and the max is 2500.
I will need some time to checkout Zain's information as I don't have all the settings requested reviewed yet.

    Hi Zain,
    1a) Item coverage exists
1b) Can you be more specific where to find this?  We do have a Warehouse identified under released products
    2) Inventory should recommend re-order.  Minimum is greater than qty on hand.
    3) We do not have manufactured items.  They are all purchased finished goods put into the warehouse
    4) MP is set up and looks correct and active
    5) Order settings on the released product look to be correct.

I didn't have to change anything so I believe the setups look right.

    When I do a Inquiry/report - On-Hand by location.
Site name comes up correctly but the Warehouse and Location have nothing in the drop down.  Is this any indication of what could be wrong?

    Hi,
Can you please post pictures to illustrate a bit more, also have you enabled to include on hand in your coverage group settings. By Site/Warehouse setting I meant if they qualify as an active dimension for coverage group. You need to check on the Storage dimension settings of Site/Warehouse.

    Regards,
    Zain

Hi.  I have attached the screenshots in a Word document.  Let me know if you are looking for anything else.
    Thanks everyone!

For me, the missing piece is in which warehouse these 2,554 are located; in LOGs WH?

If so, it is very possible that there are purchase orders already confirmed that will bring the quantity back to balance.

To get a better view, from teh Released Product, I would suggest to Plan > Net requirement, seelct the line that corresponds to the Warehouse you want to analyse and look at the demand and supply lines to understand why MRP is not suggesting planned orders.

We dont see the coverage timefence on your Group Coverage Group or the Negative days setting; I dont think it would matter when you seem to be already short of material, but if Net Requirement does not reveal anything interesting that could be a factor.

    Good day,

Can you add a master plan in the field 'Current static master plan' and try it again?

    Best regards,

There is a message that pops up in the 'Notifications' similar to the one attached.  When I ran the net requirements (there is only one site and on that warehouse) I did receive this error.  Maybe that can help figuring the situation.  That Optimization error came up when I ran the Master Planning process too.
Just an FYI, there are no open transactions for this anyway.
