Icons for a VST Addin

Hi:

I'd like to make the new windows of my addin look as native as possible by reusing the same icons as I see in similar windows. When I first created by addin project, VST immediately populated a Resources folder with a bunch of icons. However, not everything I see in GP is present. I remember back in the day that I could use Visual Studio to open EXEs and DLLs to look at and even grab icon resources, but I'm not having any luck. In which file(s) do these resources live in and how can I get them? Is this even an option or am I breaking T&C in any way? Note that my addin is custom and not destined for resale.

Thanks,

Paul

    You can still do it...

    In Visual Studio Go to

    File>Open>File

Look for GPIcons.dll in your GP install, click open

You will see a tree view,

    resources-explorer.JPG

    Then open the icon folder,

    treeicons2.JPG

Finally, double click an icon of interest...

    treeicons3.JPG

You will see the icon in the inbuilt visual studio editor for icons.

...there is always the resource explorer in Dex too...

I'll let you decide about the legal position of including these in your internal application...

Thanks for pointing out the right file Tim.

That is what I had been trying in VS, but the binary file opens in a binary editor and not as you show in your screenshots. I'm on VS2015... is it perhaps a configurating issue?
