is it possible to delete a fixed assets book that is no longer being used? It is not the book that posts to the GL.

In addition to Frank's comment, if there are any book-class records or asset book records that use this book ID, you would not be able to delete the book record.
You would have to make sure there are no assets currently assigned to this book and that no historical activity remains for the book. Otherwise, you won't be able to delete it.
