I have set up 2 new companies in Dynamics SL 2011 SP1. All of our companies have separate databases. I need to transfer the Chart of Accounts from one of these companies to the 2 newly create ones.

It looks like I should be able to do this with the Transaction Import screen, along with a control file and a data file. I have created the control file that I will need, but I can't seem to find any way to export the Chart of Accounts into a data file.

I see how to export into Excel, but importing this does not work, and if I save it as a CSV, I don't know how to manipulate the data to allow the import.

Can anyone provide information on exporting to a dta file?

Another idea that is somewhat new would be to use the Quick Query functionality where the info can be exported to Excel.

Have you tried just highlighting every account in the original chart and hitting ctrl-c, switching companies and pasting it (ctrl-v) into the new chart?
