I see there are 2 ways to get D365 data to Azure Data Lake in D365 F&O
1. Export to Azure Data Lake
2. Export Entity Store to Azure Data Lake
When should we use one vs the other? It almost feels like Export Entity store is the better option of the 2 but perhaps they are meant for 2 different use cases so looking for some guidance.
Hi VickyD, Both options are for different purposes and I think the question is not about which one to use but which data you need to export in Data Lake.
1) Export to Azure Data Lake is for exporting the application Data (AxDB) which contains all master, transactional, configuration tables.
2) Export Entity Store to Azure Data Lake is for exporting operational Data, Entity store (AxDW) contains aggregate data measurements and used for reporting and analytics.

I chose option number 1 - Export to Azure Data Lake and then chose an entity using the "Choose using entity options" and picked an entity. However when I add the entity I see the underlying table csv's inside of our data lake, but I don't see the Entitie's csv's in the data lake. I instead see in the Entities folder in the Data Lake json files that include the SQL used to build the entities. If we want an entity's data structure do we need to recreate the entity using the underlying table data and the SQL in the entity json files or is there a way for D365 to extract the data structured as the entity?
