Moving customizations made in the Sandbox to a Live CRM Instance

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I understand the theory of best practice to use the Sandbox to play with creating custom features in CRM. I have successfully copied a full version of the Production Instance to the Sandbox, so all the custom entities, workflows, and data match.

However, I cannot seem to find any information about how to successfully push features created in the Sandbox to Production. Where do I find best practices on this? Do I need to create a new solution in the Sandbox when I want to build an additional feature and then import that solution to production? Please send some clear instructions on how to make these updates.

Thanks!!

Yes, you are right, it is better to create a solution in sandbox environment first, them export this solution and import to the Production, below URL for your information:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334495.aspx

Or the following method you may try:

    Hi Amirea,

When you make changes in Dynamics, they should be deployed from your dev/test to production environment by deploying solutions and patches.

Take a look at the following kb article that explains your options, as there are different possibilities:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../mt593040.aspx;MSPPError=-2147217396

Technically you could deploy only your latest changes or deploy your entire solution which will update all the changes with the latest. There are benefits to each.

Also, when making changes, you should consider whether to use solutions or patches.

    Hope this helps.
