Total Weight on Posted Sales Shipment in Word

ReportReport
Posted on by 3,518

Hi:

I have modified the Word template for the Posted Sales Shipment report to show the Unit Net Weight field from the Item Unit of Measure window.

I need to take this a step further, however, and have the report multiply the Unit Net Weight times the Quantity of the line item on the Posted Sales Shipment to show a Total Weight.

Can the Word template accommodate such a calculation, without the use of Application Language (AL) code?

Thanks!

John

Hi, you can try the following, but I'm not sure if it will work.

To modify the calculation field in word layout you have customize the report with AL code. I am not sure it will workout directly in the word layout.

Thanks, Nitin.  But, I'm trying to avoid programming.

unfortunately in this case you can't avoid that.

It's disappointing that you have to be a computer programmer to conduct the simplest modifications.

@Zhu: Thanks!  Yes, unfortunately, it doesn't work.

I really don't understand why you have to be a computer programmer to conduct what should be a simple modification.  It's not fair to those who don't have the time to learn AL.

    What unfortunate news.

Yes, but I feel like Microsoft is trying to improve this.

First of all, in June this year, Microsoft will release the feature of adding fields on the page without Page Extension.

Add existing table fields to optimize your pages

I think the next step is the DataItem of the report and the fields of the APIs.

Perhaps a few major releases later, these issues will be resolved. Think about it, before the BC18 version, there was no Report Extension, and partners had to recreate the report if they wanted to modify the standard report, even just add a field.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
