No access token for the store" – Token not saved in BC after successful app approval

I'm integrating Business Central (cloud sandbox) with a Shopify store using Microsoft's official Shopify Connector (installed via AppSource).

When I click “Request Access” from the Shopify Shop Card, Shopify correctly prompts for approval. I approve the app using the store owner account, and the app shows as installed in Shopify. However, after approval, Business Central fails to receive or store the access token.

The error shown in BC is:
No Access token for the store. Please request an access token for this store.

Environment:

Business Central Cloud Sandbox

Shopify Connector from AppSource, version 27.2

Shopify store is active and accessible

Shopify app installed successfully, shows correct scopes and install logs

What I’ve already done:

Confirmed Shopify URL format: https://{shop}.myshopify.com (no trailing slash)

Enabled “Allow HttpClient Requests” in Extension Management

Reinstalled the connector cleanly

Deleted and recreated the Shopify Shop Card

Approved the app in Shopify (confirmed it's listed in Apps)

Used store owner for app approval

Cleared cookies, used clean browser session (Chrome and Edge tested)

Pop-ups and third-party cookies enabled

Left the BC “waiting for response” page open the entire time

Verified “Has Access Key” remains false after approval

Extension shows as Installed = true

What I suspect:

This appears to be a token handling failure on the BC side — Shopify has done its part and issued the token, but BC never saves it.

Request:

Has anyone encountered this OAuth/token callback failure before? Is there a deeper known issue with the Shopify Connector in sandbox environments or known fixes?

If this requires backend intervention or token debug, I’m happy to provide more details. Unfortunately, I can’t raise a Microsoft support ticket directly, so hoping someone from the product team or a partner can advise.

Thank you.

    Hello ,

This isn’t Shopify — it’s almost always Business Central failing to complete or persist the OAuth callback. In practice, the top causes are (1) permissions (the token is returned but BC can’t save it — test once with SUPER), (2) browser tracking prevention / privacy features breaking the OAuth state on redirect (disable tracking protection and extensions, use one Chrome tab), or (3) environment/session mismatch (multiple BC tabs or redirect landing in a different sandbox). Less commonly, it’s a connector bug in a specific app version (27.2 has had flaky OAuth reports), which you can confirm by testing in a fresh sandbox or updating the connector if possible. If SUPER + clean browser still fails, it’s likely a backend connector issue and not something you can fix from the UI.

    Hi Oussama,
Thanks for your detailed response — I’ve now worked through all of your suggestions, but I’m still hitting the same No Access token for the store "grr-online-store.myshopify.com" error. Here's everything I've done so far:

    SUPER Permissions
I made sure my BC user in the sandbox has the SUPER permission set. Still no change.

    Browser Privacy Settings
Tried with multiple clean browsers (Chrome and Edge), all with:
    Tracking prevention turned off
    All extensions disabled
    Pop-ups and third-party cookies allowed
One single tab open for the whole OAuth process

    Fresh Sandbox
I created a brand-new BC sandbox, installed a clean version of the Shopify Connector extension, and created a new Shopify Shop card with the correct URL (https://grr-online-store.myshopify.com) — still the same issue.

    OAuth Flow & Error
After clicking Request Access, it redirects to Shopify but fails with the error:
Oauth error application_cannot_be_found: Could not find Shopify API application with api_key
I also tried reinstalling the Dynamics 365 Business Central app inside Shopify between attempts. Still no success.

    Allow HTTPClient Requests
Confirmed that "Allow HttpClient Requests" is enabled for the extension in Extension Management.

    No Redirect Conflicts
I ensured I wasn’t switching environments or using multiple tabs or sessions that could confuse the OAuth state.

I’m now wondering if this is either:
An issue with how the OAuth app is registered for this particular BC version (I’m on v27.2.42879.43521, which you mentioned might have flaky OAuth behavior), or
A backend registration issue where the Shopify API app isn’t resolving correctly for BC

I would really appreciate if you would be able to provide me any suggestion regarding what could me my best option from here?
