I am new to MS Dynamics GP and have been with my current company almost 2 months. I really need some direction with integrating a bar coding system for inventory control, ordering and cycle counts. The current method for filling out index cards for ordering supplies on a weekly basis. I need to transfer the entire inventory item to a bar code system. This is strictly internal use only so we do not need to adhere to any restrictions or guidelines. I would like to know what considerations I need to be mindful of in researching a bar coding software and how it communicates with GP. I would appreciate any software/printing suggestions.

I would second the vote for Panatrac. I have used them in the past plus back when they were young. There were very repsonsive to request for code changes and the software works great.

You may also want to look at a company called Computer Productivity Solutions. We have been dealing with them for years now and they have a very simple barcoding solution for receiving, inventory, and fixed assets.

It is very low cost and can be setup a couple of different ways. Check them out:
