Products sub grid problem on custom entity form

(0) ShareShare

Seem to be hitting a problem on CRM online - having created a custom entity with its own forms which not far off replicate an new order form.

At the bottom of this form should be (as the order form has) a sub grid to pick and choose products/qty from the product catalogue in dynamics.

But none of the relationships I can select in the form editor will give me the products catalogue data...only the products from an existing order or invoice.

I need a sub grid to select from the product catalogue.

Any advice?

The grid on order entity is of order products (separate entity) and not of products entity. You can create a new entity which will have lookup of your custom entity, lookup of product, quantity field etc.

I've attempted to build a relationship to reflect this but nothing seems to work properly.

Any suggestions on how to put this together?

    Hi,

What do you mean when you say nothing seems to work properly? As I said, create a new entity, same as order product. This entity will have lookup fields for both product and your custom entity. You can then place the subgrid of this new entity on custom order entity to show related products.

I've tried this and I can't get products to work.

Best I get is one product at a time but can't change the Qty - its just one line item at a time. It doesn't make sense.

You can't have a OOTB in-line editable view on a custom entity. They are exclusive of opportunity product, quote product, order product and invoice product.

So on a custom entity where I want to have (in theory) a sub grid where I can pick and add products from the product catalogue how would this be achieved?

In theory this entity should be able to list products, how many (qty) I want to have on this list and their price.

You can have the subgrid. And you can add the products. You just can't edit the quantity in-line. You can click the line and open the Custom Entity Product Item and edit quantity here.

Any suggestions on how to put this together as the methods I've been using just don't appear to give me what i want.

    Hi Sean,

Marianne is correct and the OOTB grid functionality is limited in this respect.

You could code your own grid using HTML however I would suggest having a looking at something like D CRM Editable Grid  https://dcrmeg.codeplex.com/

Its free but there are a few commerical products also if you are so inclined

This doesn't appear to be Dynamics Online friendly?
