The G/L Account does not exist. Identification fields and values

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello, Data integration for Customers, Vendors, and Items was successful however the general journal entry for opening balances are getting the following error message:

>The G/L Account does not exist. Identification fields and values: No.='20100'<

For example, our vendor line items in the journal entry are balanced with accounts payable. However the error still occurs. Any thoughts?

    Hello Jennifer,

Yes, you are correct! There was a general business posting group that had defaulted to an incorrect account however the account number (coincidentally enough) was ‘20200’ not ‘20100’ as the error stated.

I have adjusted the sales account (sales credit memo account, sales line disc account, sales inv disc account) and other fields (purchasing accounts, purch credit memo, purch line disc, purch inv. disc) in the general posting set up to reflect the intended accounts.

The 20100 mystery continues. I’m open to any other suggestions!

    Hello Christina,

I'm thinking there is a posting group setup using Account 20100.  Using the search, search for Vendor Posting Groups and click to open your lists of Vendor Posting Groups and ensure the appropriate accounts are setup here and you don't see account 20100 listed.

You also may want to check Customer Posting Groups and General Posting Setup to make sure there are no valid accounts listed there either.

Please let us know how this goes.

RE: The G/L Account does not exist. Identification fields and values

    Hello Jennifer,

Thank you for the quick reply! Our Chart of Accounts begins at 0111101. Getting creative, we are considering the last 5 digits of our account numbers may equal the error "20100".

We did find that our payable accounts are 0120000 and then jump to 0121000. The error account "20100" does not match our chart of account pattern.

We can confirm that our accounts payable account is a posting account type.

    Any suggestions would be wonderful!

    Thank you.

    Hello Christina,

The error message is pointing us to a missing account, number 20100.  If you go to the Chart of Accounts do you see this 20100 account listed?   Can you click on the account and open the account card and is it listed as a posting account?

Please let us know what you find.

    Regards,

    Jennifer Reinhardt
