To be honest, I'm just curious. What's the point of this? I just could not understand. Does anybody know the reason why Microsoft does this? Thanks.

That is a customization in your system and is not part of native AX.
Why not ask the original developer who wrote it for you how it works?
Hi Andrew,
I do not think that this is a customization but a Standard AX field / behavior that I can also identify in my demo machine. Companies in Europe often use this parameter together with the "post physical sales tax" parameter to post sales taxes and revenues at the time products are shipped in line with the local tax law here. Why would you want to have this parameter activated for a non-stocked product? Non-stocked products are typically service items where the revenue is recognized (a) either permanently e.g. through revenue accruals that you can account for in the project module or (b) once the work is done and the invoice is created. Can you provide some more information why you need this parameter activated also for non-stocked products?
Best regards,
Ludwig
Thanks Ludwig. We provide service to our customers and we do that through regular sales orders with service items on sales order lines. In this case, we would like to see the sales revenue accruals after posting the packing slip, but before invoicing.
We can enable "post to deferred revenue account on sales delivery" to have the deferred revenue posted when posting packing slip, but that requires the inventory module group to be stocked. Which I'm confused is the same function for purchase order (Accrue liability on product receipt) doesn't have to work on stocked inventory module group.
Thanks Brandon, this is a standard AX function.
Yea, that's my bad.
It used to be called "Post physical revenue" in earlier versions of AX. I concluded it was a modification at a glance based on the fact that the first letter of every word was capitalized, since an amazing amount of the time that's what non-Microsoft developers do when they create their own labels and menus items, even though 99.9% of AX isn't like that. To my eye, it stands out as bad as if someone used all capitals, and Microsoft until recently has been pretty good about observing their own best practices. But, that seems to be changing based on what I've seen over the last few months.
