Can someone kindly explain what's the use of social profile module in d365 for customer service. I keep on searching but all I can see is social engagement.

This is for Microsoft social engagement solution. If you are using Microsoft social engagement then your social profile like facebook, twitter which is used to configure will be stored here. Nothing to do with CRM side customisation.
