Testing Incoming Email Router From Exchange Server

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Good Day Everyone,

I am new to email router so I am not sure how to go about testing incoming email functionality.

I have configured and setup email router configuration to MS CRM on premises and Pop3 Server.

The email router tests shows as success for both incoming and outgoing profiles

I have tested outgoing functionality ,send a email(create email activity inside MS CRM) from CRM to exchange this works like magic

The challenge is testing the incoming functionality,to send emails from exchange and receive them in CRM this is not happening

In CRM I have a queue that is supposed to receive the emails from exchange but to no success.

What are the steps to follow to achieve this fanctionality

Hope you will be able to assist.

Regards.

    Thanks for the Reply Tom,

1.Yes the mailboxes are configured correctly to send/receive email using email router,I have credentials specified on the email Server profile

2.No it is not tied to a forward mailbox yet,but this is supposed to be the ultimate results,it is just a rule in the email router

3.Yes that is my anticipated outcome.

    Regards.

Hi mydoll, thanks for reaching out.

If you are using Dynamics 2016 I would strongly recommend looking at Server-side Synch rather than Email Router. Below is a link to help decide when to use server-side synch, but there is rarely a scenario where the email router is a better option.

    technet.microsoft.com/.../dn832099.aspx

As for your current scenario can you provide some more details.

    1. Are the user mailboxes configured correctly to send/receive email using the email router?

    2. Is that queue tied to a fwd mailbox that you set up in exchange and then set up in email router, or is this just a rule in the email router?

    3. Is your expected outcome that incoming mail matching a rule in the email router will go into CRM automatically?

Eager to help, have a great day!
