Select Contacts only with telephone number

Hi,
 
Sorry trying again as the previous post timed out.
 
On the opportunity form, I have an optional lookup to a contact. Is there a way I can make sure the user selects a contact with a telephone number?
Either a warning, or a user must input a telephone number on the contact before continuing.
 
I don't want to make it mandatory for all contacts, as that's overkill. Be good if this can be done without JS.

    If you want some type of warning message or pop up, that would have to be JS.

    What you could do is create a new field and business rule on the contact entity. 
     
    BR would populate the new field if contacts phone is null. Maybe put " Please provide phone number" or something a long those lines.
     
    Then update your lookup view columns to have phone number first, then your new field second. 
     
    Naturally, if the first field is null in the view, the second one will display in the look up. This way the users will know that an email is needed.
