I am working on a task  how to configure and Sell Gift Cards (physical) in AX (not from POS).
The client wants to sell Gift Cards that offer a specific quantity and a specific price for the product (100 liters of oil for 1,30$ per liter)

Thus the gift card should be used for a specific product or category and owner of the gift card will have a specific (promo) price for that product, and a fixed quantity of it.
For example:  Gift Card nr is : 123456
                      Product that he can buy: Oil

                      Price: 130   
                      Quantity: 50 Liters

The gift card needs to have an expiration date.
 

Is there any option in AX where i can set up it, or a customization is needed ?   Any suggestion?

    Hi Magic,

    You are right but they do not want to redeemed gift card at POS. You can sell gift card as service item and load money by adding one line item in sales orders but if you want to redeem gift card on sales order than we have to use call center functionality. In POS you can load and redeem directly .

    I suggest take consulting advice - for example you have to consider to which account you will post, what account type, if its to be physically controlled then will it have an item code and stock location and for pos probably a bar code, if you treat it as a prepayment then that is a sale and tax is immediately due and  is different from a gift card which is  more like another form of money, - what happens on expiry e.g, will tax be payable when the revenue is then recognized etc. If you have not yet enabled the call centre, then that also needs some guidance, and thoughts about what will be the security access to that module etc. 

    In summary:

    It is a type of voucher that can be issued from one store and redeemed at any store in the organization. Retail keeps track of gift card balances, so a card can be reused until its available balance reaches zero another feature customer can add money to gift card as well.

    Configure an account in General ledger main accounts of liability (deferred income) nature

    Define an item group for gift card and provide main accounts

    Create a retail product to represent a gift card. Assign barcode

    Create a Payment Method for gift card and assign POS Operation name

    Assign the payment methods to store set up of action tab

    Provide the account number in Posting Fast Tab. Provide accounts for differences – e.g ‘Cash discrepancy’

    Card setup to enter description and necessary accounts for revenues and assets to posting fast tab

    Provide length of card number - Retail > setup > card number

    Could you please provide me the complete explanation on this.How to  create call center sales order and set gift card as one of the payment method and redeem gift card against the sales amount.

    Hi Flutura,

    We can use gift card on sales order under the payment option. But for this we need to create call center sales order and set gift card as one of the payment method and redeem gift card against the sales amount. Basically we used to call it prepayment functionality.
